BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

AMERICAN CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE

OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, UNIT 550, INC.

October 10, 2006

CALL TO ORDER: Called to order at 2:25P.M.

PRESENT: Wayne Boss, Joyce Martin, Barbara Shepardson, Diana Shilling, Ken Llacera, Jerry Goodell, Sam Badawi, and Virginia Le Roy.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM September 12. The motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes as corrected.

OLD BUSINESS:

The September Sectional was not a financial success. Saturday night attendance had only 5 tables. The other days did very well. We discussed eliminating the Saturday night game for next year. On Sunday, San Jose had a NAP game and this would have reduced our attendance. Diana will write up a report concerning the Sectional.

The Slow Play Policy was again discussed by members of the Board. There is no change to the current policy.

NEW BUSINESS:

The dates of next year’s 299er sectional will be July 14 and 15. Nancy Driscoll will Chair the event. Simpkins Swim Center will donate their facility at no charge. This will save us $300. They are located on 17^th Avenue. It was recommended, seconded and passed that we have it there on the above dates.

Pat Arnold, a member of our club, wishes to have a book signing for her new mystery, Murder in Paradise Park, on Monday the 2^nd of November. It was moved, seconded and passed to charge her $50.00 for the use of our facility.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Not all of the Sectional Expenses have been presented. We will not know the exact amount of profit or loss until these are in.

It was moved, seconded and passed to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented by Sam.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Web Site: There have been no problems.

Unit Game: It will be on November llth. It will be a charity game and we will collect $1.00 from each player.

Membership: The directors have requested a copy of membership changes. Ken will forward these to Bill McIntosh.

MISCELLANEOUS:

We need a Thank You sent to John Hadley for his cash donations and the hardware for the doors.

The date for our next meeting will be November 14, 2006.
