October Games with EXTRA Points Surfs Up Section: October 18th & 19th* Sunday Brunch & Unit Game: October 26th** Halloween Party & Unit Game: October 31th** *Awards are all SILVER 1.8x **Awards are 2.5x Surfs Up Sectional - Oct 18 & 19 The tournament returns to the Santa Cruz Bridge Center. The sectional is a great opportunity to win your silver points. There's a two-session Open Pairs on Saturday, play either session or both. For players with 500MPs or less, there's a separate section with morning and afternoon sessions. Sunday is stratified swiss teams. Tournament preregistration is strongly suggested as registered players have seating priority. Use this link to access the SCBC Event Registration system. The flyer can be accessed here. Adoring Aces Class - October 16 The four Aces are the most powerful cards in their suits but many players, even those with 1000s of MPs, make mistakes leading or playing their aces. This class is a comprehensive survey of using your aces more effectively in the play of the hand, especially on defense. Real hands from open games illustrate general principles for leading and better timing for playing your aces. The class is free! It is presented on the third Thursday of the month following the 499er game at approximately 2P. We encourage players with less than 500MPs to play in the game and stay for the class. Others are welcome to attend the class, including those with more than 500 MPs.

Unit 550 Mission: The Santa Cruz Bridge Center (SCBC), Unit 550 of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), promotes the game of bridge and supports bridge clubs running games. The SCBC provides a pleasant and fun environment for learning and playing bridge.

Game Calendar & Schedules: There are games at the SCBC and on BBO throughout the week. Some are open to players of all levels, termed "Open Games", while others are reserved for newcomers, novice and/or intermediate players.
